There are basically three types of handle: The Spindle Operated Handle called the Espagnolett, the Cockspur and the Tilt & Turn.

	Espagnolette Lightning Window Handles These are new high performance handles which have been developed specifically with the end user in mind. Combining aesthetics with function, these attractive handles are suitable for domestic and commercial application. Manufactured from die cast zinc, they are available in chrome, white or gold inline or offset. The finish coating exceeds the resistance requirements of BS7412. 	Tilt & Turn Lightning Handles These are new high performance handles which have been developed specifically with the end user in mind. Combining aesthetics with function, these attractive handles are suitable for domestic and commercial application. Manufactured from die cast zinc, they are available in white or gold finish, with superior coatings which exceed the resistance requirements of BS7412. 	Cockspur Casement Handle The Cockspur is the older type of handle, generally 10 years or more. The handle works by moving a spur against a plastic wedge which is fitted on the frame of the window. The Casement is a high performance locking casement handle for traditional top hung and side hung windows. It is available with Barrel key locking in white or satin. Backset is 9mm, 17.5mm and 22mm for white and 9mm only for satin. Backset is the distance from the base plate to the under side of the spur. Use a steel rule to check this on your existing handle.
